Doing the Data Journalism and Computer-Assisted Reporting Story: How to Report and Write with Data

Here are some links to guidelines and tip sheets to writing a story based on or including data.

Suggested exercises include:

1. Go to either the IRE.org resource center or GIJN.org resources and choose three data stories to review.

2. Review specifically how the data was visualized.

3. Review how many numbers they mentioned in the text and whether there were too many numbers.

4. Download a database  from the World Health Organization for your country and do an exercise in basic analysis and writing a short story about the data.
